Mercury 170 2.0L Inboard Diesel Engine
The Mercury 170 2.0L Inboard Diesel Engine offers a perfect blend of reliability, performance, and compact design, making it the ideal choice for any boating enthusiast seeking power and efficiency.
Clean, Quiet, Efficient.
Thanks to Direct Injection (DI) technology, this engine uses high-pressure injectors (26,000 psi) to atomize diesel fuel directly into each cylinder’s combustion chamber. This process boosts fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, and significantly lowers engine noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), delivering a smoother and quieter boating experience.
Joystick Piloting for Inboards.
The Mercury 170 is compatible with the only joystick piloting system that works with both gasoline and diesel inboard engines, as well as tow sport engines. It’s also the exclusive joystick piloting system available for single-inboard boats, giving you precise control and effortless maneuvering.
Lightweight Design.
The TDI engine block is made from Vermicular Graphite Casting (VGC), a material that’s 5-10% lighter than grey iron while offering twice the strength. This lightweight construction helps with efficient heat transfer, ensuring optimum cooling, and delivers the perfect balance of strength and durability.
Power & Performance.
Thanks to its low weight and powerful design, the Mercury 170 provides an impressive power-to-weight ratio, offering excellent acceleration and low planing times. The engine’s strong low-end torque guarantees a smooth, quick hole shot and impressive overall performance, making it a great choice for those who demand power and speed on the water.
Intuitive Design.
Mercury SmartCraft technology is integrated into the engine, providing real-time data about engine functions on a user-friendly LED display. The SmartCraft Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) offers seamless shifting, immediate throttle response, and digital controls for a refined boating experience.
Corrosion-Resistance.
Mercury’s advanced anti-corrosion technology includes a thermostatically controlled closed-loop water-cooling system. This feature, along with water-cooled engine oil, gear oil, and steering fluid, helps lower engine-room temperatures, extending the engine’s lifespan. The SeaCore system is also available for superior saltwater protection.
